If you are looking to launch your carrier in something new then you have to know how to properly prepare for a job interview. So now that you have figured out what you want to do and what you are good at let’s talk about the steps/tips :

1. ANALYSE THE JOB :

An important part of interview preparation is to take the time to analyze the job posting if you have. As you observe the job description consider what the company is seeking in a candidate, make a list of the skills, knowledge, and qualities that are required by the employer to get success in the job.

2. PRACTICE INTERVIEWING :

Take the time to practice answering interview questions you will probably be asked. This will also help to calm your nerves because you won’t be scrambling for an answer while in the interview hot seat. Try to conduct the practice interview in the same format as the real interview. For example, if it is a panel interview ask your friends or family member to pretend to be a panel, and if it is a phone interview ask a friend to call you to practice answering questions over the phone.

3. Prepare questions for interviewer:

Come to the interview with some intelligent questions for the interviewer that demonstrate your knowledge of the company as well as your serious intent. Interviewers always ask if you have any questions and no matter what, you should always have one or two ready. If you say, “No, not really.” he or she may conclude that you are not all that interested in the job or company. A good all-purpose question is “what do you think is the best thing about working here?” or “what kind of person would you most like to see fill this position?”

4. PRACTICE INTERVIEW PROTOCOL :

A proper interview protocol is important. Remember to greet receptionist, your Interviewer, and everyone else you meet politely pleasantly and enthusiastically. During the interview:

  • Watch your body language
  • Shake hands firmly
  • Make the eye contact as you mention your points
  • Pay attention
  • Be attentive
  • Look interested

The more positive an impression you make the better you will he doing during job interview.

5. PREPARE BEST FOR “TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF” QUESTIONS

Many Interviewer begins interviews with this question. So how should you respond? You can go into a story about where you were born, what your parents do, how many brothers, sisters or dogs and cats you have and that’s okay. But don’t you think Interviewer wants to write Why the company should hire you instead of what kind of dog you are having. Consider responding to something like: “well obviously I could tell you about a lot of things and if I’m missing what you want, please let me know. But the three things I think are most important for you to know about me are (your job experience). I can expand on those a little if you had liked.” The interviewer will always say,”Sure, go ahead.” Then you say,” well regarding the first point (give your achievements examples)and when I was working for (company) I ( example of another achievement). This strategy enable us to focus the first 10-15 minutes of the interviewer on all of your key selling points. The tell me about yourself is a golden opportunity. Don’t miss it!

6. DON’T BE LATE :

A successful job interview starts from the minute you walk in the door . So don’t be late . It’s actually a rule of buisness to never hier someone who arrives late for an interview that’s juts standard. So be punctual maybe even a little early to set the tone of the buisness in the right direction from the very start.

7. DRESS PROPERLY:

Dress one level better than required. Mark Twain allegedly once joked that “clothes make the man ,naked people have little or no influence in society.” It dosen’t matter if the occasion is a job interview, a date,q business meeting or a social gathering. People who underdress underwhelmed.

8. BE A GOOD LISTENER:

Success comes from learning and you can’t learn when you are talking, seek to understand before being understood, listen actively, ask questions, and absorb. This will give you all the information you need to make better decisions The right way to listen is to do so actively. Concentrate on every word the person says ignore your internal monologue and suppress the natural desire to form your next statement in advance.

9. THINK POSITIVE :

No one likes a complainer, so don’t dwell on negative experiencess during and interview. Even if the Interviewer asks you point black questions like “what courses have you liked least ?” or “what did you like least about the previous job?” don’t answer or more specifically don’t answer it as its been asked. Instead, say something like ” well actually I have found something about my all classes I have liked” or ” I liked the (previous job) quite a bit, although I know that I really want (new job).

10. SEND THANK YOU NOTES :

Write a thank you notes after every interview . Restate why you want the job, what your qualifications are ,how you might make significant contributions and so on. This thank- you letter is also the perfect opportunity to discuss anything of importance that your interviewer neglected to answer as thoroughly or as well as you would have liked.
